МОИП – некоммерческая организация любителей науки и первое научное общество России. В 2023 году МОИП отпраздновал 218 лет и был реформирован как юридическое лицо. Новая организация продолжает славные традиции любительских научных изысканий под покровительством Московского университета.
2023 г. — Члены МОИП ведут научные проекты, результаты которых обсуждаются в теплом кругу единомышленников в секциях МОИП и на общих заседаниях.
Задачами общества МОИП (22.3.1805) считались разработка общих научных проблем естествознания, изучение природных богатств России, в том числе «открытие таких произведений, кои могут составить новую ветвь Российской торговли».
